Lakeside Retreat in the North Georgia Mountains

Lake Burton consists of 2,775 acres and 62 miles of shoreline and is owned and operated by the Georgia Power Company. Boating, water skiing, wakeboarding and surfing, jet skiing, swimming and biking are among the top activities enjoyed at Lake Burton and over 5 restaurants to enjoy by boat at one of the 2 marinas. There are several boat launching facilities available and Burton Surf Club steps away from the Anchorage Marina and Boat Ramp. Lake Burton is the ideal habitat for fishing Spotted Bass, Largemouth Bass, White Bass, Crappie, Bluegill, and many more species of fish. Nearby Clayton boasts several restaurants and over 6 vineyards or distilleries in Rabun County. Hiking trails lead to waterfalls such as Hemlock Falls, Minnehaha Falls and Tallulah Falls. Just west of the lake is a fun family trip to Helen, Georgia which likes to refer to itself as “Little Switzerland”.  The Farm Zoo at Dillard House offers  a close up look and feel for farm animals and offer pony rides.  Burton Surf Club is on Timpson Cove, the closest cove to Clayton, Georgia making it easy to get to AND convenient to restaurants, grocery, and shopping.

November 1, 2023 - Lake starts down gradually from Normal (1865.0 elevation)
January 15, 2024   - Lake is 13’ feet down (1852.0 elevation)
January 26, 2024   - Lake starts up from (1852.0 elevation)
March 1, 2024        - Lake is within 5’ feet of Normal pool (1860.0 elevation)
May 1, 2024           - Lake is back to Normal summer pool (1865.0 elevation)
